Adult Basic Education (ABE)
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program provides the essential skills for academic advancement to the Adult High School Diploma (AHSD) or General Educational Development (GED) programs.
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program is designed to prepare students in language arts and mathematics and advance to the Adult High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) programs.
Note: ABE courses have restrictions. Your placement in courses will be based on the assessment process.

Required Courses:
- ABE 3001 - Language Arts
- ABE 3002 - Mathematics
Restrictions:
ABE courses have restrictions. You must meet with a Counselor to be able to register for these classes. Visit our Counseling Services page for more information about how to schedule an appointment.A Certificate of Competency is awarded upon successful completion of all required courses.
Request Your Certificate
If you have completed and passed all of the required courses in each program, submit the petition form “Petition for Certificate of Competency.”

- Check course availability in Schedule of Classes
To find Adult Basic Education courses in the class schedule, look for the subject “Adult Basic Education”.
- Choose which type of student you are:
Follow these steps if you are new to PCC OR returning after an absence of 1 or more major semester(s):

- Apply to Noncredit
- Create an OpenCCC account if you don’t have one already.
- Receive Welcome Letter via email
- Activate your LancerPoint account
- Schedule an appointment with a Noncredit Counselor
- Contact the Noncredit Counseling department at noncreditcounseling@517b2b.com or (626) 585-3006.
- Check your Registration Status Date in LancerPoint
- Register for classes in LancerPoint using CRN#
- Apply to Noncredit

- Schedule an appointment with a Noncredit Counselor
